Facebook Page Banner Pitfalls You Must Avoid While Designing

Last month, when I was going to a new eatery that has recently opened near my office, I thought of visiting their Facebook page. I wanted to get some real and convincing feedbacks of food lovers about the place. But when I landed on their Facebook page, what grabbed my attention immediately were not the posts or the feedbacks or reviews, but the cover or the banner of the page. There was a photograph of their most famous wrap with the chef who prepared it on the cover. Being a professional, I immediately gave them a ten on ten in my mind, for their amazing thought instead of just a regular stock image or cliché food lover quote on the banner. That also made me realize, how many successful or budding brands get it wrong in the first place while designing the cover image of the Facebook page.

Facebook is completely different from a brand’s website. It is not the commercial online face of a brand. Rather it is the only advertising and marketing platform that offers the consumers a personal experience while interacting with brands. Hence, while designing the graphics and especially the Facebookpage banner, you have to think differently than your website. This is where many designers make some common mistakes. What mistakes am I talking about? Take a look at the following points to know more.

Confusing it with Website Banner

Again, I am repeating the thumb rule here. Don’t confuse your Facebook page banner with your website. Your consumer is coming to your page to see how credible you are. So, use this page to show them the human side of your brand. Get some original image or products or even you can get photographs of your team. It will give your consumers a glimpse of your own world that your website and its professional outlook cannot convey.

Not Giving Much Effort in Designing

Yes, I am asking you to use original image. But it doesn’t mean that you don’t need to think a bit of tweaking and editing. Use the editing software to make the cover image more attractive. Obviously, it is the first thing that your consumers will see when they come to your page. Follow the latest Photoshop design trends and come up with amazing designs that immediately appeals to your visitors.

Not Taking Professional Help

If you are thinking that you can take care of it all by yourself as no one knows your brand better than you then you are mistaken.  Hiring a professional designer will be helpful for you as they will give certain finesse to the image and designs and will be able to provide you some really helpful insights in designing and its marketing.

So, now as you know about these mistakes in Facebook banner designing, don’t repeat them. Create a great first impression with a stunning cover image and engage more visitors in your Facebook page.
